Happy 2nd Birthday Simplywe!

I’m supposed to be doing my homework, so naturally I am using this time to check my email, fb and simplywe.  And though I wish I was still doing my homework and didn’t have the attention span of a gnat, I’m glad I checked because I almost missed Simplywe’s birthday!  SW came to be 2 years ago today!

I have been so busy with everything else in my life, I didn’t plan anything.  This should be where I put a montage of some of my favorite photos, but if I get lost in looking at old photos now, I’ll never do my homework.  I must fight the procrastination…clearly I am not as successful as I would like.

So instead I will share hiking photos, and a few from my solo trip to Prescott.

I took all of these with my iPhone, as I sent my Canon to Keegan in Germany.  I think he will get more use out of it than I will, since I haven’t used it in months.  The iPhone is so much more convenient.

These 1st 3 are from my trip to Prescott.

It rained and rained and rained the whole time I was there, mostly misty rain.  It was beautiful.  The fog was intense.  This fog was at 4 in the afternoon.

This one is from the hike we took at orientation.  How many colleges go on a hike as part of orientation?  I think I have chosen wisely.

The other weekend Der and I took a 5.2 mile hike in Tucson Mountain Park.

These are from our new favorite part of the park.

I don’t know why this one is so grainy, but I sure do love that guy!

The small upcropping of buildings, in the far off distance, is downtown Tucson.

Der and I make a good hiking team.

The rest of these are from various hiking trips.

Bug loves her hikes.

I’ve painted several batches of rocks and left them in random places on the trail.

I like to imagine the finders curious smile when they wonder who did that.

Happy Birthday Simplywe!

I heart Tucson!

Poor Unfortunate Souls

Pillow Petz

They are pure dirt balls and do not belong in my bed, but they were too cute and pitiful to kick out.

Bug paid penance later…

Her’s so abused.

She was compliant, but bored.

Oh, but I do lover her

Oh That Face!

Oh my gawsh!  How I love them!

*Side note:  I can’t stand our ugly tile.  It always looks filthy.  I want stained concrete, but underneath that gross stuff is even nastier asbestos tile…so it stays…for now.

Nap time.  It’s hard being that flurpy!

If she weren’t so gross, I could eat that face!

Couldn’t you just gobble them up?

Quack Attack!

My wonderful, thoughtful, amazing, sweet, and fun aunt Sandy surprised us with ducklings.

We named them Sandy and Donny, after her and my uncle.

I have to tell you black ducklings are difficult to photograph.  Their tiny black eyes get lost in all the black fluff.

This is Donny.

This is Sandy.

They are adorable

and fun.

Ducks make great pets and give you yummy eggs.

We have no idea if Sandy and Donny are boys, girls or one of each.

I hope we have one of each.

I can’t wait to watch them grow.

Thanks Sandy!

Gary

I don’t know why, but I love to watch him eat.

It’s a painfully slow process, that involves lots of clumsy attempts to adjust the food, without losing his grip.

I am clearly very easily amused.

Gary…not so much.

Eggstra Small

I had a teensy surprise when I opened the lid to the laying box the other day.

I squeaked when I saw it.  We don’t have any hens that typically lay such small eggs, so I was surprised when I saw this itty-bitty nugget.

We average about 5 eggs a day and they are all usually the size of the one on the right.

Upon wondering if it was possible for the egg to be yokeless, I did a google search and discovered that not only is it possible, but they have a special-not-so-appetizing name for such eggs.  They are affectionately referred to as “fart” eggs and are perfectly edible.  I don’t think I could have ever predicted me using fart and edible in the same sentence, but there you have it.  And you-are-so-very-welcome for that useless tidbit.

Aren’t you glad you checked in today?!

Bock Bock

Two of the ladies, getting close to laying age.

They always look angry, but they are soft and cuddly and sweet.

I love her eyes, bright orange and green.

Laundry

Somebody should really fold all of that laundry, but then where would poor Sampson sit?!

How To Protect Power Cords From Chewy Critters

Our dear, cross-eyed, Princess Puss likes to partake in a fine wire now and then.

She has spidey senses when it comes to cords and she prefers the pricier ones.

Like the $100 cord to my macbook we had to replace because she chewed it into submission.  She gnawed on the new one within hours of it’s arrival.

When we brought home a new desktop computer the other day, Der and I started brainstorming how to keep her furry face away from the cords.

Brilliant Der thought of tubing.  He bought 6 feet of tubing from Lowe’s, cut a slit all the way down it, and nested the wire within it.

The cord should be safe now…unless Princess Puss sprouts thumbs.
