Monsoon Season

I love a good monsoon season.

The way the sky goes from sunny, to dark and ominous so quickly. The smell of  wet desert and creosote bushes.  Watching a wall of rain rushing across the earth like it’s running from something.  The way the temperature drops 30 degrees in just minutes.  It’s all rather lovely.,

This little dove was doing all he could to stay perched on the branch.  His tail feathers adjusting to the gusty winds.

There was a break in the storm and I used it to address a pond that had formed and was flooding Der’s shop.  I dug a run off and put blocks in front of the door for good measure.

This being our first monsoon season in this house  and we are learning that we have drainage issues.  Conrad and Ami were having fun watching “Lake Petz” form.  The former owners had a giant dugout with 3 foot cinderblock walls smack dab in the middle of the yard.  We took all the blocks out, but haven’t had a chance to get fill dirt and so a lake was born. We have lots of yard work in our future.

They love any chance to ham it up for the camera.

Bug does not like stormy weather.  I thought she was going to fold herself inside-out when the thunder was at its worst.  So she stuck to us like velcro.

Chicken feet are so cool.
