Hot Rocks

This is a fun and super easy project.

I saw it here.

First I grabbed some smooth rocks and put them in the 400 degree oven, straight on the rack for 10 minutes give or take.  I gave the kids old wash cloths to use as pot holders to rotate the rocks.  Then I gave them the leftover crayons from our texture rubbing project and set them free to create with melting crayons.

Conrad was having a bit of a whiney day.  Once he got started he was in a much better mood.

They have asked to do this again.  I could have sat and made hundreds myself, but our smooth rock collection wasn’t the greatest.

They were focussed and quiet while they worked.

I will be keeping my eyes peeled for prospective rocks from now on.Now you try.

You do the coolest projects with the kids!

  2. What a great idea! I’ll be passing this craft on to my grands as soon as they come for a visit! Thanks for sharing.
